I knocked softly at the door.  It was a quick exchange.  She opened the door.  I handed her the enveloped and said “Have a fun time today.”  She smiled and said thanks.  Then I was down the stairs, heading to my car.  But something made me stop.  This is her home.  This is where she lives.  It is real.  It won’t be the last place she calls home.  But in that moment, I recognized that a season of my parenting is behind me.  And I lifted up a prayer of gratitude as I slid into my car.
